Imtech realizes a high-tech power plant in the Netherlands
Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) has been contracted by RWE Power AG to provide the technology in a new high-tech power plant built at Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The order is worth more than 31 million euro in total.

Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: 'Imtech is one of Europe's stronger technical players in the energy technology field. Integrating high-tech energy solutions in our total technology approach - by combining electrical engineering with ICT (information and communication technology) and mechanical engineering - enables us to deliver significant added value. This makes large orders possible. Among other things Imtech is currently working in Germany on a power plant for RWE in Hamm and on a combined cycle power plant for Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft and EnBW in Stade near Hamburg. The contract for the new Eemshaven power plant will drive further growth in this segment.'

Two 800 MW heating stations
The core of the new Eemshaven power plant consists of two high-tech heating stations each with a capacity of 800 MW. These stations will be fired by coal in combination with untreated biomass and petroleum coke. The Imtech assignment consists of several integrated parts. So is Imtech responsible for both the heating and cooling, as well as the cooling supply, the mechanical smoke extraction system (including all smoke extraction canals). Similarly, Imtech is responsible for the integrated measurement and control technology, which consists of 6,500 data points which are being installed and processed in the heating stations. This integrated approach makes an energy efficient solution possible. The ambient sea air will cause an extra load on the power plant. This necessitates special facilities for high-quality air filtration and the prevention of corrosion.

Imtech co-operation
Imtech is responsible for all the technological solutions, including the concept, project management and complete planning. The contract is being carried out by Imtech Deutschland (leading contractor) in co-operation with Imtech Nederland.
